taking back roads

happy, happy birthday!

If you ask how old he is, he’ll either say “Free!” or “Eight!”.

His smile and personality will get you hook, line and sinker!

He never wakes up on the wrong side of the bed.

Strong willed. Independent. A lover and a fighter. One minute I’m pulling my hair out and the next he’s got me laughing.

Bedtime routine is a kiss, hug and a high-five.

He loves Chick-fil-A. Like a lot.

He’s fearless. And that’s scary!

He enjoys trips to Target almost more than I do.

20121223-182647.jpg My goal was to recreate the top picture..it’s a lot easier working with a 3mo old!

Right after he had his seizure (5 months, 8 days ago (but who’s counting)), I was holding his blueish-gray body with his eyes still rattling around and he was making a deep moaning sound..I remember thinking we had 2 1/2 really good years. He is a pure joy and I can’t imagine our life without him. He’s one of the funniest kids I know. He keeps me on my toes! I can hardly believe that three years have passed since he was born!

Josh isn’t three until Sunday but since the world is coming to an end tomorrow Michael has to work all weekend we celebrated tonight!

Here’s a short YouTube video of him blowing out the candle.

I can’t believe he’s already 3!!!

Here’s a closer picture of the cake

I found the design online, it’s a dirt cake thats supposed to look like a beach with treasure. I think I’ll leave the cake decorating to the professionals! Ha!

I can’t believe he’s THREE!! Seems like only yesterday I was in the hospital having him!

Oh wait, that was Lydia 😉

Five more days to Christmas!!! Kids are itching to open presents!!

20121220-143814.jpg His little fingers as the body, LOVE!!

He’s been telling me all week how he made something for me in class. His face was glowing as I opened them up!!

He also told me he didn’t need a nap. He was out before we left the parking lot.

That Benny Boy, he’s a sweet one!!

It’s rare for him to sit still for longer than a nanosecond..

It’s going to be 70 today and expected to be even warmer tomorrow. Here’s what we’ve been up to this week:

Sweet, sweet A bought a book from the Book Fair for one of her brothers. She wrapped it up and wanted to save it for Christmas but her excitement got the best of her and she begged to let him have it early.

He said it he didn’t like it.

She instantly started to cry.

I took her out to breakfast the next morning because nothing mends a seven year olds heart like alone time with mom!

{…and a chocolate chip muffin the size of your head…}

Yesterday B asked if he could dust. You betcha! He also said his preK teacher showed him how to vacuum! That’s a win-win for me!

This one doesn’t need toys; she has her toes.

Finally–drum roll please….we found a house!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ll post pictures and the deets another time, but if all works out we should be moving in mid January!!!

Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Ps- You can now leave a comment and I’d love to hear from you!

A for Effort!

20121205-152325.jpg I love this to the Moon and back!!

And then there’s these three:

I’m probably more likely to win the lottery than getting an everybody-look-at-the-camera-and-smile photo!

five months!

December is here and what a beautiful first day it was!! My {littlest} sunshine turned 5 months! She’s getting harder to take a picture of..squirms everywhere! She’s discovering the range of her voice and also tries to get ahold of everything!

20121202-144913.jpg Those are my baby shoes!

Our house hunting continues..I’m not sure what the average number of viewings is before you find ‘The One’ but I feel like we’ve exceeded it. Our poor Realtor deserves every cent of her commission! I really don’t think it’s that we’re being super picky ..basement, large kitchen, acreage is what we really want but we’re willing to compromise. I think it’s just the of the time of the year; who wants to move out at Christmas time?
While we were out hunting we came across a parade – I think every fire engine within a 50 mile radius was in the parade (Would hate to have a fire during parade time!!). Michael complained he was getting a sunburn -ha!- so he broke out the umbrella. J was dancing to the marching band!

20121202-145844.jpg That float is by the city workers, if you can’t tell he’s plunging an out house toilet. And no Christmas parade would be complete without Santa! Made B’s day!

The house hunt continues this afternoon and this time we’re dragging my mom and MSr. with us! Fingers a toes crossed we find a good one!!
We’ve got a fun month ahead and something planned for the kids every weekend – next week we’ll do baking and another parade. Following week we’re going to look at lights, week after that we’ll celebrate J’s THIRD bday. Ohmygoodness! how can he be 3 already?! And then it’s Christmas!!!!!!

Hope you have a great week!!
