taking back roads

Zagar Family Trip

on June 25, 2013

If looking at someone else’s photo album bores you to death, then skip this post. We had a great time with Grammie and Grandpa (Drampa, as Ben calls him). Here’s a few (dozen) highlights:
Had a blast in Charleston, SC! On our way down we got caught in a CRAZY storm. I’ve never seen rain come down so hard, so fast and so much at one time!! Luckily the storm only lasted a day. Beach, carriage ride through historic Charleston and a visit to a 300-500 year old tree were my fave’s.

Google “Angel Oak Tree” for more info on tree.
After 3 days in Charleston, we made a pit stop at home, and packed up for a short drive up to Asheville, NC. Took a drive on Blue Ridge Parkway – amazing views!!

Then it was on to Charlotte, NC. This was our first time there and I know we’ll be back soon! Such a lovely city! Downtown reminded me of a smaller NYC or Vancouver. Gorgeous homes -huge historic mansions, tree canopied streets… And an excellent children’s museum. (Also Ikea, Crate & Barrel and Container Store. Drool.)

There’s an area to make shoes using scrap fabric, cardboard and duck tape. I made a shoe for Ben:

And Michael made one for Abby:

Clearly Michael is the better cobbler of the two of us 🙂

Yesterday we spent most of the day in Greenville, doing some early birthday shopping for Lydia and Ben. Last night We said, “It’s see you later, not good-bye!” but regardless it’s hard!! We laughed often, we ate a lot and we were spoiled tons!!
