The Jewelry Lady

Abby asked if I’d share some pictures of her creations with you 🙂 This girl is bead crazy (thanks to Aunt Katrina!)! This is just her own personal collection –  She’s also made bracelets for family, friends and her teacher for Christmas!

Sisters 🙂
Isn’t she doing a great job?!

Other news: Yesterday my cousin Anna (mom’s side) delivered a baby girl, Avery Rose, born 6 weeks early! She weighed just under 5lbs. Thankfully they are both doing well but baby will need to stay at hospital a little longer. That’s the 4th baby to be born in our family this year!

One more week of winter break..it’d be nice if the kids let me sleep in just once. 🙂 We’ve been pretty lazy since Christmas, in fact we’re still in our pj’s! Hope you’re enjoying the last days of 2014!

Christmas Eve

image

image

Nice evening with my mom and Mike. For dinner we had posole and chicken enchiladas. Mexican hot chocolate and grandma Donna’s baked goodies for dessert.   We then exchanged gifts — kids are on cloud nine with round one of Christmas! Part of my mom’s gifts to the kids were sleds and boots — come on snow!!
I’m willing to bet the kids will be up before the sun, eager to open up the remaining gifts!

Here are a few more pics from yesterday:

He asked for cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Those were made from scratch – my gift to him 😉

He’s so excited about being five!

Racing at the museum – he could have spent the whole time at this one exhibit!

image

He picked Freddy’s for lunch – a burger place. He’s been telling me for months that he didn’t want a cake or cupcakes – just a dirt & worms sundae from Freddy’s!

Ready for Big Hero 6 to start!

It was a super sized fun day for the whole family!!

Now its time for bed!  Wishing you all a merry, Merry Christmas!

Nit Picking

What a week this has been.

Someone brought home lice and then shared it with three others.

Yep, lice. The four letter word that no parent wants to deal with.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to get rid of lice in 4 heads– one being your own?!

I have done laundry non-stop since Monday. When I’m not doing that, I’ve been cleaning or treating hair or combing hair, nit picking The boys’ got buzzcuts, I trimmed 3″ off of Lydia and seriously was so close to chopping off my own hair.

I will burn the house down if we ever get it again.

I guess lice has been going around the school like a cold. Some heads up would have been nice!

My grandma told me to slap mayo all over our heads and cover with bag. That helped suffocate the live ones and a lot of nits fell out when washing mayo away. I then went ahead and did a CVS lice rinse, which is supposed to kill them right way but we have to do another treatment tomorrow to ensure none have hatched. And because nits are like super glued to the hair, I then slapped olive oil with rosemary essential oil mixed in. That made the nits slide right out. I hope its gone. I’m clinging to my sanity by a thread, ha.

On Wednesday  we finally decorated our tree. We had it up since Saturday but everything got thrown aside.

image

M put up the lights and I let the kids do everything else. This is pretty much the only side they decorated 🙂

The other thing I’ve been doing this week is shooing her out of the tree..

image

She pretty much rearranges the tree hourly and has torn little holes in the wrapping paper.

So with everything going on, I didn’t send out Christmas cards..just just pretend this arrived in your mailbox instead:

9:10am

Uncle Zac sent an 80lb box of Lego’s.

Eighty pounds.

The UPS driver probably hates us.

But the kids are in heaven.

…well some of them..

Can’t teach an old dog new tricks. I predict a future in electronics/graphic design.
Or a complete bum.

Here is what our backroom currently looks like:

(Kids are eating breakfast)

Think we’ll just hang around, building all day 🙂

I gave the kids their annual ornaments

Found them all at Target – absolutely perfect for their current interests!!

Yesterday we had our girls’ day. SO much fun! I love hearing them giggle and singing, playing dolls..just being nine.

Countdown

8.5 days until Christmas break
15 days to J bday
17 days til Christmas
3.5 months to Abby’s bday … I’m sure you can guess who notified me of that, haha!

So much to cram into these next few weeks!

Tonight we have Abby’s choir performance and musical. This year she has the part of a student – no costume needed!!

Hallelujah!!!!!

We still haven’t put up a tree..such a pain to drag all the stuff out, I’m almost tempted to just buy a tiny tree for the kids room’s.

Next week is the first grade music performance..

And there’s the classroom Christmas parties..

Friday Ben has a field trip to the post office to drop off letter to Santa — I’m kinda torn about this, I know its a fun thing for the kids, but let’s face it, our county is one of the poorer ones..I hate to think of all the kids waking up disappointed on Christmas day.

I want to take the kids to a couple neighborhoods in Greenville that have awesome light displays.

Friday night cousin Issy is spending the night and I’m taking her and Abby out on Saturday to get nails done and lunch – that’s my early gift to them, I know they’ll love it!! And then later that day Abby, Issy and Ben will do a 3hr holiday baking camp at a local cupcake shop!! That should be a lot of fun!!

Did I mention J’s bday? 😉 because he likes to remind me hourly that he wants to go to Children’s Museum! And since he can’t go to school he wants to get hamburgers after. Silly kid!

I’ll close with some pics (of course). Have a great week!

Dressed herself — Leg warmers and slippers, no pants, T-shirt, 45* out.

image

Our pre-race faces. So warm and dry! I think of how wet we ended up and just laugh. Running in rain jackets only makes you sweat more. 😉

image

A house that I turned around and stopped in the middle of the road for.

And lastly, four siblings getting along for 3.5 seconds

Ipad, it’s the best and worst thing.

((Thighs are a little sore from yesterday and poor A says she’s sore all over. But she said it with a smile, so even though we were soaking wet and cold, and now sore, it was worth it!))
